Need a Receipt from Mercari Shops? A Buyer’s Practical Checklist
Mercari Shops has no built-in receipt or qualified-invoice generator. Learn which purchase records to save, how to contact a shop, and what cannot be promised.

When buying a collectible for work or keeping orderly purchase records, you may look for a receipt download in Mercari Shops. Mercari’s official help says Shops does not provide a built-in generator for receipts or qualified invoices. Decide which document you actually need first, then separate the records the platform supplies from any document you would have to request from the individual shop.
Do not keep looking for a built-in receipt button
The official buyer guide suggests considering the automatic purchase email and a statement from the payment method as alternatives to a receipt. If you cannot find the email after purchase, check the address registered to your account, inbox and spam folder, then open the particular order. A payment record and a merchant-issued receipt are different documents.
Mercari’s purchase guide also says a confirmation email is sent to the registered email address. Keep the email and relevant payment statement where you can retrieve the order name, date and payment method later. Whether that combination satisfies your employer’s reimbursement policy or a tax requirement depends on the purpose and applicable rules; this article does not make an accounting or tax determination.
If a receipt is essential, ask the individual shop
The official help says to consult the shop if you truly need a receipt, while warning that the shop may not be able to provide one. If your employer requires a particular format, gather the requested recipient name and fields before buying and ask the shop responsible for that specific product whether it can help. Do not assume issuance before receiving a clear answer.
The official contact guide directs pre-purchase questions to “ask about this item” on the listing or the shop inquiry on its profile. After purchase, open that order and use “contact the shop.” Keep order-specific details inside the official order channel rather than posting them in a public review or an unrelated listing.
Keep the request concise and specific: “I plan to buy this item. Can your shop issue a receipt with the recipient name and fields I need?” For an existing order, start the inquiry from its transaction screen so the shop can identify it. Contacting a shop does not guarantee issuance, and response timing differs by seller.
If a shop says it cannot provide the document, check with the organisation requesting it whether your purchase email and payment statement are acceptable. If it requires a particular format, that answer may affect where you choose to buy before placing an order. The ability to buy an item and the ability to obtain a specific document are separate conditions.
Ask separately about a qualified invoice
If you specifically need a Japanese “qualified invoice” (tekikaku seikyusho), the official help says to contact the shop directly. Do not equate a routine purchase email or card statement with that document. Availability and contents must be checked with the seller of the exact product; there is no blanket promise that every Mercari Shops merchant can issue one.
