Does “Shipping Included” in Japan Cover International Delivery?
A Japanese listing’s shipping-included price may cover only the domestic leg. Separate the item price, proxy services and international delivery to estimate your total without counting the same shipping charge twice.

You find a figure on Mercari Japan and see “shipping included” below the price. If you are receiving it outside Japan, do not treat that displayed price as a complete delivery quote. First separate the delivery within Japan from the journey to your country.
For an overseas purchase, the shop selling the item and the service arranging purchase or international shipping may be different businesses. Knowing which part each handles makes it easier to ask the right party for the missing cost information.
Separate the two delivery legs
Mercari’s overseas transaction support guide describes sellers shipping to a designated address in Japan, with Mercari or an officially partnered cross-border service handling onward delivery overseas. The seller’s domestic delivery and the buyer’s international delivery are therefore distinct legs.
When using that arrangement, a shipping-included listing should not be reinterpreted as including the international leg. A purchase delivered only within Japan and one forwarded abroad involve different sets of costs to confirm.
Build the estimate one line at a time
Write separate lines for the item price, any additional domestic shipping, the buying-service fee, optional services you choose and international shipping. Check destination-specific charges using the service’s guidance and official information for the destination. Leave unknown amounts marked as unknown rather than quietly counting them as zero.

If the listing price already includes the applicable domestic delivery charge, adding a generic domestic allowance as though it were another known charge would double-count it. If the service shows an extra cost for a change of delivery method or another condition, check that explanation and record the additional amount separately.
Use service examples without mixing up their rules
Buyee Cart’s shipping guide distinguishes store-to-warehouse delivery in Japan from warehouse-to-customer delivery abroad. It also explains that international estimates depend on package weight, dimensions and the selected shipping method, rather than being guaranteed by the calculator.
Its usage-fee guide illustrates payment at purchase and a later payment when arranging shipping after warehouse arrival. This is a Buyee Cart example. Do not apply its exact fees or payment sequence automatically to a Mercari purchase interface or another buying service.
A low item price does not remove the importance of parcel size. The product’s own dimensions do not necessarily describe its packed parcel. When comparing estimates, record which weight and dimensions were used so that two apparently different prices are being compared on the same basis.
A practical order for checking an overseas purchase
First check whether your intended service supports both the destination and the specific item. Comparing shipping prices cannot solve an unsupported purchase. Personal listings and Shops listings may have different buying entry points, so check the actual product link you intend to use.
Next read the item price and domestic shipping responsibility, then collect the service fees and an international estimate. If a packaging preference could affect the cost, clarify whether it can be accommodated before committing to the purchase.
