Madoka Magica 15th Anniversary Exhibition Metal Coin (Madoka Kaname): Reading the Chinese Back Label and Caring for a Zinc-Alloy Coin

Using our own listing photos of the Madoka Magica 15th Anniversary Exhibition metal coin (Madoka Kaname) sold at Loop KOBE, this guide covers the front design and how the coin, case and card fit together, what each line of the Chinese back label means (name, material, size, standard, licensee, age warning), and how to display and store a zinc-alloy coin.

At Loop KOBE we list a Madoka Kaname metal coin sold as limited merchandise for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica 15th Anniversary Exhibition. Our product page describes it as an item from the 15th anniversary exhibition held in Shanghai, China, and as a Chinese licensed product released by KAKACODE.

Using the photos we took of the actual item, this article walks through the front design, how the card and case fit together, how to read the Chinese label on the back, and what to keep in mind when displaying or storing it. It does not cover the exhibition's dates or venue.

The front design and packaging

The coin is a silver-coloured medal about 50 mm across, with a colour-printed chibi-style Madoka Kaname in the centre. "15th Anniversary" appears on the left, gears on the right and roses below, with a fine ornamental pattern around the rim.

The coin sits in a clear round case (capsule) set into a white card. The lower part of the card carries the series logo and the MADOKA 15th anniversary logo, and the whole thing is sealed in a clear bag with a hanging hole. As stated on the product page, it is listed as new and unopened.

Reading the Chinese label on the back

The back of the card carries the information printed on products sold in China. Some lines can be guessed from the characters, but a few terms do not mean quite what a Japanese reader might expect, so here they are in a table.

Label lineWhat it saysMeaning

警告 (warning)对象年龄8周岁以上 / 本产品不适合8周岁以下儿童使用,内含小零件,慎防儿童误食For ages 8 and up. Not suitable for children under 8; contains small parts, so take care that children do not swallow them

执行标准 is the line that says which standard the product is made to. We explained how to read this line in general in our article on the back label of a luggage tag bought in China. GB 28480-2012 is China's mandatory standard on limits for harmful elements in adornments, which caps the content of elements such as lead and cadmium and the amount of nickel released. It is reported to have taken effect on 1 May 2013.

The number on the label means the manufacturer states that the product follows this standard. We have not tested the material ourselves, so this article presents it only as the standard printed on the label.

On the right of the label are a holographic sticker with the Aniplex logo and a QR code, a 合格 mark (a certificate showing the product passed inspection), "MADE IN CHINA" and the KAKACODE logo. Our product page describes the sticker as an Aniplex anti-counterfeiting seal. Please note that we do not offer sticker verification or authentication services.

Displaying and storing a zinc-alloy coin

A metal coin's surface can change in appearance with fingerprints, humidity and rubbing. Printed areas and plated-style finishes in particular are easily damaged by rough cloths or polishing compounds. Use these points as a guide.

  • Keep it in its capsule, even on display
  • Avoid sunny windowsills and humid places
  • Hold it by the edge and keep fingers off the printed face
  • Do not use polishing compounds or metal polish, even if it looks dirty
  • Keep it out of reach of children under 8

If you want to keep it on its card, leave it in the bag and store it flat to help prevent the card from bending or warping. For how metal medals differ from button badges, see our article on checking diameter, material and fastenings.

Price, stock and shipping times can change, so please check the product page for the latest information. Loop KOBE sells within Japan and does not ship directly overseas.
