Can You Wash a Jellycat? Check the Care Label Before Cleaning
Jellycat care varies by product. Use the official care guidance and photos from a real pig plush listing to locate the instructions, recognise missing information and ask the right question before washing.

Before cleaning a favourite Jellycat, establish which care instructions belong to that particular item. A method used for a similar-looking plush may not be suitable for yours. Start with its product identity and sewn-in label before deciding whether water, a washing machine or another approach is appropriate.

Care instructions vary across the range
Jellycat’s official care guidance distinguishes items suitable for machine washing at 30°C from those requiring hand surface cleaning. It directs readers to the product page and sewn-in care label. A statement about part of the range is not permission to machine-wash every Jellycat.
Treat washing and drying as separate decisions. The same official page advises against tumble drying, ironing and dry cleaning. Even where a product permits machine washing, that does not also permit a tumble dryer. Check the complete instruction rather than stopping at the first familiar laundry symbol.

What the pig listing photographs show
Our pig plush listing, checked on September 16, 2026, describes the item as new and unused, with an approximately 18 cm seated size. It includes front, rear and sewn-label photographs. The written description does not specify a washing method.
The label close-up shows company information and other markings, but not a readable set of washing instructions. Seeing a tag is different from seeing the care directions. These photographs therefore do not establish whether this particular pig can go in a washing machine.
Ask for the care-label faces
A useful request is: “Could you photograph both sides of the sewn-in care label so the washing instructions are readable?” Ask for folds to be opened gently and for fingers not to cover the print. The label can remain attached; cutting it off is unnecessary for this check.
When looking up an official product page, match the name and size rather than relying on a familiar animal shape. A similar-looking listing can lead you to the wrong instructions. If the identity remains uncertain, request the product information first instead of choosing a washing method by appearance.
What to do when instructions are missing or disagree
If the physical label and a matching page appear to disagree, gather the product details and photographs and ask Jellycat’s customer care team which guidance applies. Hold off on an unverified cleaning method while the question is unresolved, so you can still show the item as it is.
Keep a photograph of the care instructions together with the product name for future reference. For a collectible purchase, check the included tags and condition separately too. A photographed tag alone does not establish authenticity or demonstrate how an item will respond to cleaning.
