Yakitori Without Alcohol in Osaka: Soft Drinks and Dinner Planning
Planning yakitori without alcohol near Honmachi? Find soft drinks on a Japanese menu, check ordering conditions and plan dinner with friends who have different drink preferences.
Written by Koetsu Co., Ltd.

If you want yakitori in Osaka but do not plan to drink alcohol, check two things together: the drink list and the conditions attached to your dinner order. A restaurant page may lead with beer photographs while listing soft drinks in a separate section of its menu.
This guide uses a published menu near Honmachi and Shinsaibashi to show what to look for. You can keep your request practical: name the drink you would like and explain how you want to order food. There is no need to build your enquiry around a personal explanation.
Look for the soft-drink section
Look for ソフトドリンク, the soft-drink heading. Useful individual names include ウーロン茶 for oolong tea and オレンジジュース for orange juice. If another section contains a similarly named alcoholic drink, point to the soft-drink entry as well as saying the name.
The published drink menu for Yakitori Senkichi Minamikyuhoji, checked on September 18, 2026, lists Coca-Cola, ginger ale, oolong tea and orange juice. This establishes published choices, not live stock. Check availability and prices on the menu used for your visit.
| Preference | Menu name to look for | Useful question |
|---|---|---|
| Tea with dinner | Oolong tea / ウーロン茶 | Is there a hot or cold option? |
| A fizzy drink | Cola or ginger ale | Which choices are available today? |
| A fruit drink | Orange juice / オレンジジュース | Can you ask about serving size or ice? |
Check whether a drinks package is necessary
Before choosing a course or all-you-can-drink package, ask whether you can order drinks separately and whether a food-only course is offered. A soft-drink list does not establish the terms of every package. Check the arrangement you are actually considering, especially when booking for several people.
If friends want a drinks package, ask whether everyone at the table must use the same arrangement. Find out what is included for someone choosing soft drinks before the group confirms a booking. The answer comes from the restaurant’s current terms, not from assumptions about other izakaya.
Build the meal around the food you want
Once the drink is settled, choose the skewers and side dishes you actually want. Ask about ordering units and how late you can add more food. This lets you build a meal around your appetite instead of committing to an assumed portion size before seeing the dishes.
The restaurant’s food page lists examples including negima, seseri, cheese tsukune, grilled thick fried tofu and shishito peppers. The selection can change with supplies and the season. If you want rice or another item to complete your meal, ask what is available that evening.
Keep food, drinks and any seating-related charges as separate parts of your budget. Choosing a soft drink does not tell you whether an otoshi or other charge applies. Ask about those conditions rather than treating the absence of alcohol as an exemption from the restaurant’s normal charges.
Use a simple ordering phrase
Try: “今日はお酒を飲まないので、ウーロン茶をお願いします。料理は単品で注文できますか。” It means: “I am not drinking alcohol today; may I have oolong tea? Can I order the food à la carte?” Add any question about temperature or ice before the order is confirmed.
